Every year, the first Tuesday after the Thursday of Thanksgiving, we give thanks to our CoFounders. These last few weeks have been so jam packed and busy that I hadn’t been able to take the time to say Happy CoFounders Day to my partner Brayton.
Brayton and I have been working together for roughly 13 years. We founded Boost VC a decade ago, and have since had the luxury of investing in hundreds of startup founders and growing an amazing community, team, and mission at Boost VC.
Brayton is my counter balance, we jokingly say that I am the unstoppable force, and he is the immovable object, and between those two, magic happens. However, Boost VC wouldn’t be nearly as successful as it is without Brayton. As a fund, we have needed to learn how things work from the ground up, and mostly it was Brayton figuring out how it worked, and me breaking it.
He took over our back office early on because it was a necessity. He built out our SPV program because it was a huge opportunity and he led investments in two of Boost VC’s largest successes to date: Polychain and Unstoppable Domains. Through out all of that, he never let the team get distracted by my new ideas and shiny objects I try to track down.
Partnership is about mutual respect for the super powers of the other person. It’s about pushing each other to be the best versions of yourself. I’ve been fortunate to partner with amazing people in my life. Brayton has be one heck of a partner through the last decade.
Also - when he was 11, he won the California State free throw championship. The only qualification you need to be a great venture capitalist.
My cofounder left the company recently. I am hunting for the right one.
You’re quite a team!
