Red Rock Coffee in Mountain View

Where you hit dingers.

I don’t think I have ever blogged about this. Sometimes when you have written as many blogs as I have, you are unsure what topics you have covered. There’s a great video of Eminem and Lil Wayne talking about how they sometimes have to google their own lyrics to see if they have already said the lyric they just came up with, with blogging its no different. And yes, I compared my blog to Eminem and Lil Wayne in this first paragraph.

Red Rock is a Coffee Shop in Mountain View on Castro St. I used to live in an apartment a one minute walk away. I didn’t drink coffee at the time, but I would go and meet entrepreneurs there… I would order a hot chocolate and ask them what they wanted.

Red Rock is a classic local coffee shop with character.

I’m not sure why I grew a beard in the pic above, but this is from 2018. I can’t find pictures earlier than that at the place, but I used to take every meeting at this place.

There it is, clean shaven.

The long story about Red Rock is that I ended up meeting every founder I could out of this coffee place between 2011 and 2013… and I out of that I ended up investing in Coinbase, Benchling, Plangrid, and I had many early Bitcoin conversations here.

This post is long over-due, but I hit some dingers investing out of this Coffee Shop, it should be a historical landmark. I’m going to put it out in the universe that I would be happy to franchise it to San Mateo or help the organization in some way. I just don’t get to go there as much anymore because I’m located geographically more north!

Founders, go visit! Investors, make investments there! It’s a magical coffee shop.
