Sci-Fi Resolutions
It turns out I take my resolutions very seriously. It was a little bit of a surprise to me that I have hit 80% of my goals 3-4 years running. They aren’t easy either - I had “Write a book” last year, and I did it. More on that later.
I think it’s important to look at the last year and reflect about what you want to accomplish in the next one.
I divide my list into categories: Family, Health, Boost VC, Life Long goals.
Last year for Boost VC, we had a great year. We made 30 new investments (5 in the last month). We ran two Sci-Fi Demo Days in which we partnered with 10 other “Deep Tech” or “Sci-Fi” related funds. We closed out $98m in funding (which was far more than we were planning). Also - our comic book referral program seems to be working very well to get new deals… all this is a small number of operational things we did in order to continue the pursuit of our mission: “To Accelerate the Sci-Fi Future.” Not to mention all the hand to hand combat we did for our portfolio of Sci-Fi startups.
When asking myself what will be the most important thing to focus on for our mission in the coming year, it will be two things — Be an energy force to all Sci-Fi startup companies and listen to the customer (The startup being the customer).
I have some sub goals to this this year - Launch NFT project, distribute the book I wrote… but I think the best thing I can do in support of the ambitious founders, solving the hardest problems is for me to become the #1 trusted voice for Sci-Fi (deep-tech) investments.
I’m unsure tactically where this will take me, but I’m excited to try to accomplish my goal.
